Each week I receive a devotional thought written by Max Lucado and I thought I would like to share some of his thoughts with you.
Have you ever wondered why we have so many stories in the Bible of people who feel their life has reached a hopeless situation and they are seeking help from outside themselves?
Paul wrote in Romans 15 verse 4; “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope”.
Jesus steps into these people’s lives with a touch of kindness or a word of encouragement. Can we put ourselves into the stories and feel His touch today? I believe we can.
Jairus felt that his world had come to an end, and then God stepped. The man at the side of the pool at Bethesda felt he needed someone to help him and there was no one there for him, then Jesus came along. The two people on the road to Emmaus had heavy hearts, then Jesus spoke to them and their sadness turned to joy unbelievable. The woman accused of adultery saw her accusers disappear as Jesus wrote in the sand.
May you feel His gentle touch or hear His words of encouragement as you wait before Him in worship and prayer.
