Last weekend was our annual Youth Camp- we were up at Caloundra with 70 youth and leaders from our church and other Reformed churches around SEQ. We had an awesome time, with heaps of fun, inspiring messages, and great worship.
Our activities included Tribal games, a beach afternoon, glowstick night games, and plenty of time to connect and spend time together.
There were a lot of highlights from camp (we’ll be sharing photos with you soon!), but what stood out to me the most was how naturally the youth from all the churches bonded together- for most of the weekend virtually every group of people I saw had youth from multiple churches! I’m sure that the friendships made here will remain and grow through the Assemblies we also run with those churches.
We had some great teaching on Psalm 19 over the weekend- KJ Tromp from Nerang church spoke on Friday night, Jim de Witte, senior pastor at Redlands church, came up on Saturday morning to speak about God’s Creation, Adam travelled up on Saturday evening to preach on God’s Law, and I taught on Sunday morning about Our Response. We had some awesome small group discussions about and interaction with these messages, and really appreciate the time Adam and Jim took to travel up and bring the Word to us!
It was a successful and memorable weekend, and it happened thanks to a lot of time put in by a great team- a special thanks to the production and band guys who set up all the sound and lighting, and led us in worship, and to our youth intern Liam for doing a great job organising a plethora of tasks which I delegated to him!
And finally, many thanks to all of you who prayed for our camp (no hospital trips!) and to those who kindly sponsored youth to go - those who were sponsored hugely appreciated it!
Now we turn our attention to the Wise Convention coming up on January 6-11, for young people aged 15-25 from Reformed churches all across the country.
This event runs every two years, each time in a different state - this time is Victoria.
As you may have already heard, a group of young people from BPCC are going to WISE Convention, and are fundraising to help subsidise the cost of this. For this a Mega Garage Sale day is running on Saturday the 7th of October, from 7am- 12pm - this will a big, family-friendly morning with face painting and a BBQ running as well as the garage sale itself.
We would really appreciate your help and support to make this a success, some ways you can help out are by:
- Donating items to the garage sale- we kinda need stuff to sell! It’s a great opportunity to do some holiday spring cleaning and clear out the stuff you don’t need for a good cause- just make sure that items are in decent condition!
- Spreading the word! Tell your family and friends, and come down on the day!
If you have any questions contact Rachel, she is the awesome volunteer who is putting the time into co-ordinating this event!
Hope you have a great week, see you in church!
