Did you know the Bible guarantees Christians everything necessary to meet all the battles of life? This is a huge claim! Let’s consider some battles you and I may (will) face in our lifetime: Cancer. Death of a loved one. Financial pressure. Divorce. Family breakdown. Retrenchment. Disability. Unrealised dreams. These are just a few of the challenges and battles ordinary people face in their ordinary day-to-day lives. Yet, the Bible guarantees those who place their faith, hope and trust in the work and person of Jesus Christ, they receive from God everything necessary to meet these trials. Let me say it again: This is a huge claim!
Our Sunday sermons during these school holidays are where we dig deep into this biblical claim. We are working through Pauls teaching to believers in Ephesians 6 where he encourages them to stand firm in the Lord:-
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Eph.6:10-17)
This sermon series will tell us how to live in the truth of thispromise from God’s Word. We will learn how to put on this armour Paul is talking about. We will learn how this all works.
God’s Word teaches we have victory in Christ – he took our sin upon himself, and through that we are declared righteous (forgiven) before God [1Peter 2:24]. In fact, the Bible teachespromises we have benefits and resources and power and privileges given to us which guarantee all we need to face life’s battles. The Bible says it like this in the letter to the Philippian Christians:-
My God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. (Phil.4:19)
Let me ask you: Do you believe this? I’m thinking most who have read this far, do believe this. But, my next question is one we must truly reflect on: Do I do what the Bible says? Do I daily put the armour God gives us to face all the battles of life? Do I understand how to do this?
Please join us for this sermon series and embrace the promises of the gospel for your life personally.
