The Story

In my personal quiet time with God, I’ve started reading a book called The Story. This book has 31 chapters that takes the reader through the story of the Bible and shows how Scripture interacts with the story of life (our personal lives). Let me quote from the book:

"The Story will open your eyes to The Lower Story, our story, which is actually many stories of men and women interacting with God in the daily course of life; and the Upper Story, God’s story, which is the tale of his great, overarching purpose that fits all the individual stories together like panels in one unified mural."

As I’m reading through this book, I’m discovering afresh the one story of Scripture – how the Old and New Testaments fit together as one story. I’m discovering how our lives (our stories) fit into The Story of God’s work in the world.

Let me encourage you to consider using this resource to grow in your understanding and experience of God’s purpose for your story within His Story. Check out www.thestory.com . Contact me if you would like more info.

I also want to tell you about our future AM Church sermon themes being planned for the last half of this year. Series are being planned on: (1) Spirit Fuelled Living *Fruit of the Spirit+; (2) Authenticity as a Believer and (3) Hearing the Whisper of God Personally.

For our PM Church sermon themes, we’re currently in a series on 1Peter called Life According to Peter which looks at how we’re to live holy lives. Next, we’re partnering with LifeChurch.tv for a four week series called Weird—because normal isn’t working. Here’s what the preacher says to intro the series; These days, it’s normal to deal with financial debt, high divorce rates, and bad relationships. Maybe it’s time to shake things up. Join us as we explore life beyond normal in our next series, WEIRD.

We’re also planning a series to be called; The Reason For God. Please pray for us preachers and the team responsible for bringing God’s Word to you week in and week out. Nothing is more important that truthful interpretation of God’s Word that applies to you and me as we together make a kingdom building difference in our circles.
